A writer comes usually comes across two kinds of audiences, an academic and a popular audience. An academic audience well generally look at the technical aspects of your writing, like may be grammar, structure, the length of the article, which is genrally long and focusing on a certain topic, expecting to gain some valuable information, which is generally supported by some sort of evidence. While the Popular audiences are just browsing, and looking for something that interests them, it could be a story focusing on a current and a general topic, which usually are broad.
